Mrs. Abbas’ Art Room
The blog of a teaching artist.
This workshop introduced patterns and printmaking through the story of Anansi the Spider by Gerald McDermott. Students were introduced to radial design and shown examples from everyday life such as bike spokes, ferris wheels, and spider webs. Printmaking examples from Evan Lindquist and Mauricio Lasansky were viewed and discussed. After the lesson was introduced and the story was presented, students created patterns and designs to be printed.
