Two-dimensional, flat, and/or limited to height and width. Three-dimensional object having volume and thickness. The lightness or darkness of a color. Refers to variations of perspective--either real or imagined. Surface quality--either tactile or visual. |
The PrinciplesShows action and/or directs the viewer's eye. A combination of elements repeated with variation. A combination of elements and shapes repeated in a recurring and regular arrangement. The area that first attracts attention within a composition. An appearance of visual equality in shape, form, value, color, etc. Refers to the pairing of opposite elements which creates visual interest, excitement and drama.
Occurs when all of the elements of a composition create a balanced, harmonious, complete whole—a sense of oneness.
